Anthony ‘Becks’ Toohey

Anthony Toohey or ‘Becks’ as he is affectionately known, is a talented radio and TV presenter, comedian and accidental actor. He has risen to fame in Britain playing ‘Dan’ in the highly successful Fosters UK advertising campaigns Good Call and Fosters Gold. For two and a half years Beck’s was part of the The Ant and Becks show, drive time on Mix Sydney and Melbourne. He is also an accomplished stand-up comic and MC and has a keen interest in sports, cars, bikes, just about anything blokey!

Beck’s TV career is also on the rise. He was chosen, from 100’s of comedians in Australia to star in the highly successful Fosters UK Good Call and Gold series of commercials. These can be viewed at . Beck’s has appeared on the ABC Sports Panel Show The Trophy Room and has regularly appeared on Seven’s on The Morning Show. He has also made appearances on Top Design and Hey Hey it’s Saturday Night.

Beck’s radio journey started in 2003 in the Media studios of RMITV and SYN FM at RMIT Melbourne. He pursued a radio career with the then RG Capital on Mix 106.3 breakfast, Townsville. After 2 years up north, Becks convinced his bosses to listen to some of his work and Ant and Becks were offered breakfast on Star FM 94.3/97.9 Gippsland in 2006. After a few months on air in Gippsland, the boys were asked to take on the network drive shift across the then Macquarie Regional Radioworks Network. In 2007, Broadcasting out of the Gold Coast to 46 markets, The Benchwarmers with Ant and Becks was born. In 2009 after three successful years and back to back Australian Commercial Radio awards for best Networked show later, The Ant and Becks Show made the move to Melbourne and Sydney drive at Mix.

Becks has shared MCing duties and acted as celebrity auctioneer for the last two years at BT4BC - Black tie for breast cancer ball, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the Prince of Wales Hospital. Other highlights have been a tour de force in East Timor entertaining Australia and New Zealand Troops and a crowd pleasing performance at the 2011 ‘Starry Starry Night’ fundraiser for The Alannah & Madeline foundation.

Prior to his radio career, Becks was a regular on the Melbourne comedy scene. As the 2002 TREV Victorian stand-up comedian of the year, Becks performed to packed crowds at Universities and Clubs around the country. Becks is a current and ongoing ambassador for the Cerebral Palsy Support Network and was a 2011 Dry July ambassador.
