Marieke Guehrer

Marieke Guehrer is a professional athlete and current member of the Australian Swim Team. A current world champion and former world record holder, Marieke has represented her country at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Pan Pacific Championships during the last decade.

She is a member of the Aussie Swim Team’s Leadership Group, is on the Executive Committee of the Australian Swimmers’ Association and is a committee member of her home swimming club, Melbourne Vicentre.

Outside the pool, Marieke is in the process of completing her Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Relations and Media & Communications, and has her sights set on a career in the media.

In addition to Marieke’s busy athletics and study schedule, she still finds time to blog about her experiences and ideas on her website mariekeguehrer.com.au. Her keen interests include fashion, travel, food, politics, the Olympics and sports policymaking. 

Marieke is smart and motivated and, when her schedule permits, pursues her media career with appearances on television. Her most recent appearances include being involved in an MTV exclusive MTV news special ‘Facing the Hangover’ in which Marieke was on the panel, appearing in comedy show interviews on Stefan & Craig, slightly live, and NZ’s Hyundai Code, as well as numerous sporting interviews. In the future Marieke is keen to explore more TV opportunities within sport however would love to look at more lifestyle presenting roles.

Marieke also donates her time to many charities including; the Allanah and Madeleine Foundation’s Starry Starry Night 2010, Organised Flood Relief Swim Clinic for the QLD Floods 2011 and is a role model for young women at the Women in Sport breakfast at Etihad Stadium
