Hamish Blake and Andy Lee were the surprise hits of Hillary Clinton's global farewell meeting early yesterday morning.
In an Aussie coup, the event was hosted in Washington by the ABC's Leigh Sales (above), and Blake and Lee closed the hour-long press conference.
The outgoing US Secretary of State was asked questions from journalists and everyday people, and Blake and Lee were the only ones not on the running sheet.
They first met Clinton in Melbourne two years ago. "It was a very out-of-left-field request," Blake said. "We were honoured to do it. The White House were putting the event on as a bit of a surprise for her, and they asked us 'would you mind if we finished with you guys?'."
As soon as Clinton saw them, she smiled widely and laughed. She obviously remembered who they were.
"What was strange was that they said they wanted to surprise her, so we weren't even on the rundown," Lee said.
"We were like, she might be so surprised that she won't remember us at all."
Clinton played along with the Channel 9 personalities, suggesting Lee would make a great Secretary of State because of his good looks.Credit: Herald Sun, Thursday, January 31, 2013

Shura Taft has secured the host role of The Mole, returning to Seven this year. Shura is known for his five year role as host of Kids’ WB, host of six series of the game show Pyramid and most recently co-host of Uplate on GO! and FOX Footy’s The Super Coach Show... as well as the face of Expedia travel campaigns.
“This is the start of something special. The Mole is a much-loved show, and the time is right to return it to Australian screens. And to cast Shura as host is tremendously exciting. He’s taking the next step in his career, he has talent, charm and a very real ability to connect with the audience, and he’ll do a fantastic job,” said Seven’s Director of Production Brad Lyons.
The Mole is a hugely successful reality TV show that has been played around the world since 1999. Contestants work together as a group and perform challenges to earn money that adds to a winner’s pot. But among them is a saboteur - one of them is covertly trying to make the group fail – that person is The Mole. It’s been labelled the smartest show of its kind because it relies on intelligence and skill to win. In this game of strategy and intrigue, mental strength is just as important as physical ability.
The show has started filming around Australia and the series will air this year.Source: Seven Publicity
