Dannii

Australian international style icon, pop star and TV personality Dannii Minogue takes a seat on THE X FACTOR judging panel in 2013.

After winning the 2013 Logie Award for “Most Outstanding Light Entertainment‟, THE X FACTOR will return this year with a fresh face. Channel Seven announces the newest member to THE X FACTOR judging panel –Dannii Minogue. Joining Ronan Keating and Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Dannii will take up a role on the panel as one of the shows judges and mentors.

Dannii said: “I truly am the biggest fan of THE X FACTOR and I’ve watched every episode the last couple of years from my home in Melbourne.

Since its first UK series in 2004, THE X FACTOR has established itself as the world’s leading singing talent search – successfully launching into over 20 territories, including Sweden, Russia, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Germany and the USA. Internationally, THE X FACTOR has discovered singing sensations One Direction, Olly Murs, Leona Lewis and Australia’s own Reece Mastin and Samantha Jade.

Most recently Dannii appeared on Seven’s Australia’s Got Talent. Completing her 6th series in 2012, Dannii was the only original judge to remain on the panel from its launch in 2006. Dannii first judged on the THE X FACTOR UK in 2007, successfully mentoring the winner in her debut year and her last year in 2010. This particular series of THE X FACTOR UK still remains the most successful with an incredible final audience peak of 19.4 million viewers. That same year, Dannii was voted the nation’s “Number One Best Judge‟, “Best Dressed Judge‟ and named “Celeb of the Year‟. During Dannii’s time on the UK show, worldwide acts including One Direction, Olly Murs and Rebecca Ferguson were discovered.

“Having sat next to Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole during my years on the UK show I’ve certainly learnt a thing or two along the way, including my strength to nurture and passion to fight for the budding artists I believe in. I won the show twice in the UK and I’m ready to find the next biggest Australian singing act to win this year’s competition. ‘Team Minogue’ have re-entered The X FACTOR building, the other judges had better watch out!”

Praise for Kayne Tremills' 'My Great Big Adventure'

Thursday, 14 March 2013 04:10

Kayne Tremills

Kayne Tremills is the warm and relate-able host of ABC's new show My Great Big Adventure, designed to guide young people through the highs and lows of growing up. Prominent youth psychologist, Steve Biddulph, wrote the following review of the program:

The sensitivity of this show, the warm and authentic feel to the presentation, use of lively visuals, and very good content, there isn't a patronizing moment and yet vast amounts of good information comes through. I write personal development and psychology material and work with parents all over the world, I have rarely seen anything this good.

Much of the conveyed ideas come directly from young people in a natural and diverse way, allowing a lot of alternative views and quirky gentle moments.

In the episode on family communication, a segment with the presenter and his own mother talking about his (very difficult) boyhood, a room full of adults I was watching with were reduced to tears, sensing what was behind the lightly but genuinely expressed resolution.

Quite exceptional, yet totally age appropriate as always lightly done.

Hamish and Andy the Clinton Clobbers

Thursday, 31 January 2013 23:20

Hamish Blake and Andy Lee were the surprise hits of Hillary Clinton's global farewell meeting early yesterday morning.

In an Aussie coup, the event was hosted in Washington by the ABC's Leigh Sales (above), and Blake and Lee closed the hour-long press conference.

The outgoing US Secretary of State was asked questions from journalists and everyday people, and Blake and Lee were the only ones not on the running sheet.

They first met Clinton in Melbourne two years ago. "It was a very out-of-left-field request," Blake said. "We were honoured to do it. The White House were putting the event on as a bit of a surprise for her, and they asked us 'would you mind if we finished with you guys?'."

As soon as Clinton saw them, she smiled widely and laughed. She obviously remembered who they were.

"What was strange was that they said they wanted to surprise her, so we weren't even on the rundown," Lee said.

"We were like, she might be so surprised that she won't remember us at all."

Clinton played along with the Channel 9 personalities, suggesting Lee would make a great Secretary of State because of his good looks.
