Marieke Guehrer won the 50m backstroke at the FINA games in Moscow on the weekend

Marieke Guehrer (AUS) and Evelyn Verraszto (HUN) were the “most valuable swimmers” in the initial day of the second leg of the 2009 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Moscow (RUS), after improving the World Records in the women’s 50m backstroke and 200m individual medley, respectively.

The Australian star – overall winner of the series in 2008 – finished the race in 26.17, bettering the mark (26.23) set by Sanja Jovanovic (CRO) in December 2008.
