The charismatic Shura Taft has fast become one of Australia’s hottest and most in-demand television personalities of the last twelve months. Known for his way around the microphone, Shura is a true professional and a talented presenter. As a host in the studio, on location or presenting live, Shura leads by example and offers witty humour and delivers intelligent conversation to his audience.
Shura became face of the Expedia television, print and billboard advertisements in 2011 including the hugely successful ‘New York on $50’ and ‘No Flight Booking Fees, More Asia’ campaigns.
Host of 2012’s Cricket Australia’s online ‘Big Bash League’s Cricket TV’ show, Shura demonstrates his sporting knowledge hosting the weekly show with a News Ltd journalist, interviewing cricket players and reviewing the previous rounds games and discussing upcoming games.
Shura co-hosted the hottest new television chat show Uplate!, alongside Natalie Garonzi and James Kerley, which premiered its first season in July last year on Channel Nine’s GO!. Shot live in front of a studio audience at underground bar Mink in St Kilda, Uplate! kept viewers in the know weekly with the hottest gigs, entertainment news, and live music from Australia and abroad. Each week friends Shura, James and Natalie hosted celebrities and joined partygoers to provide an exclusive backstage pass to what we are ‘wearing, watching, and listening to……and who we’re doing it with!’.
Shura is also host on the Eclipse Music TV weekly show on Channel Nine and on GO!, along with co-host Zoe Balbi. Eclipse presents the latest in music videos, artist interviews and album reviews.
Adored by kids and parents alike, Shura is host of his own game show, ‘Pyramid’, which is in its fifth series running since 2008, currently airing weekdays on Channel Nine. Shura is also the original co-host of Nine’s children’s variety and cartoon show ‘Kids’ WB’ every Saturday morning, a role he contributed to for 5 years since 2006.
Shura was also chosen as last year’s host of the Rock Eisteddford Challenge, the two national grand final episodes featured on the Nine Network in November.
Alongside presenters Darren McMullen and Sami Lukis, Shura hosts red carpet movie premieres for Event TV, interviewing and chatting with some of the country’s and world’s most notable personalities and actors for the major international film releases in Australia.
As well as presenting his own weekend radio show on Nova over past years, Shura has also showcased his captivating and lively television presenting skills on an array of Nine’s top rating shows giving comment on ‘20 to 1’ in 2008/09, presenting segments on ‘Postcards’ in 2009, live weather crosses on ‘The Today Show’ and presented live segments on ‘Mornings with Kerri Anne’ both in 2009/10 . He even won $50,000 for his chosen charity by giving Australian viewers a very gutsy singing performance on Nine’s ‘Celebrity Singing Bee’.
During his career in the entertainment business, Shura has done his fair share of travelling. In 2006 he co-presented a travel documentary and worked for 3 weeks in India, filming the first of a 10-part travel series with Jennifer Adams for Network Ten. His role included on-screen presenting, camera work and off-screen production.
Shura immerses himself in many charities, one of which is TLC for Kids, where he hosted their popular annual ball at the Crown Palladium in 2009/10. He has hosted the Leukaemia Foundation 2010 cocktail evening alongside Charli Delaney and this year’s Street Change event searching for ‘Melbourne’s Best Busker’ for the Rotary Club of Melbourne, as well as the Zoe Foundation annual charity night. Shura is also an Ambassador for the VAFA’s ‘1 in 5 Anti-Depression Program’.
Shura has been involved in countless MC events including GPO Girl's Night out at Moonee Valley, the Fashions on the Field at Caulfield Cup and Caulfield Guineas in 2008 with Livinia Nixon in 2010 with Kids’ WB co-host Heidi. He has also hosted Forever New's Spring Winter Fashion Launch 2009 and the Warner Bros Australian Christmas party 2007, 2008 and in 2010 hosted the City of Melbourne’s Santa’s Grand arrival.
