Hamish Blake is one of Australia’s most loved stars of radio, television and podcasting, best known for working in collaboration with Andy Lee as the nationally adored comedy duo Hamish and Andy. Together they host the No. 1 podcast in Australia for LiSTNR. Hamish is also the creator and host of the hugely popular ‘How Other Dad’s Dad’ podcast.
Hamish’s radio and television career has developed very much in tandem with his performing partner and close friend Andy Lee. After meeting at university and commencing their careers on radio around two decades ago, Hamish and Andy rose to unparalleled success, becoming the highest rating radio programme in Australian history, reaching around 2.5 million listeners each week.
Hamish was honoured to be awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the arts as an entertainer, and to the community in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours list.
Hamish has established himself as an iconic entertainer in his own right, best recognised as the host of the nation’s favourite family entertainment program LEGO Masters, a show which is now in its 6th season and has picked up multiple ACTA and Logie awards, both for the show and for Hamish personally.
Hamish is the winner of multiple industry awards, including being a two-time Gold Logie recipient and receiving the honour of the 2022 inaugural Bert Newton award for Most Popular presenter.
In 2011 Hamish and Andy turned their attention to TV, entertaining television audiences with a stream of successful seasons of their global ‘Gap Year’ expeditions, airing on the Nine Network. The show featured the boys’ escapades in New York, the UK, Asia, South America, India, New Zealand and Europe, earning 3 Silver Logies for the show and a Silver and Gold Logie for Hamish personally.
Together with radio and TV, they’ve also held comedic reign with their radio-show podcasts, consistently sitting at #1 on the iTunes charts. In 2008 Hamish and Andy released their ‘Unessential Listening’ CD which went platinum, selling well over 100,000 copies. In 2010 they released a second CD to great acclaim, ‘Celebrating Over 50 Glorious Years’.
In 2015, Hamish and Andy made their highly anticipated return to the HIT Radio network, once again hosting their top rating weekday national Drive show. After a fabulous farewell to radio tour at the end of 2017, they moved to podcasting, launching their own top rating show for the LiSTNR network in 2018.
2017 saw a sensational development TV wise, as they returned to the Nine Network with the debut of the AACTA and Logie nominated ‘True Story with Hamish and Andy’ and continued its success with Season Two in 2018. To the delight of their fans, Hamish and Andy paired up for the Nine Network again the next year, setting off on an action-packed adventure with a twist in the debut season of “Hamish and Andy’s ‘Perfect’ Holiday”!
Hamish co-starred in his first feature film with Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Concords) in ‘Two Little Boys’, shot in New Zealand. 2015 saw Hamish play alongside Portia de Rossi in Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope’s feature film ‘Now Add Honey’. For Disney, Hamish voiced a role in the global release of animated feature film ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ (the sequel to ‘Wreck-It Ralph’).
TV acting roles for Hamish include ‘Twenty Something’, ‘Utopia’, ‘Open Slather’, ‘The Wrong Girl’, ‘The Librarians’ and ‘Molly’. He has also played various guest roles on the internationally acclaimed Australian children’s animated series ‘Bluey’.
Hamish has appeared as a guest on myriad Australian television shows, including ‘Have You Been Paying Attention’, ‘Spicks and Specks’, ‘The Hundred with Andy Lee’, ‘Hard Quiz’, ‘PlaySchool’ , ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’, ‘The Project’ , ‘Thank God You’re Here’, ‘Celebrity Letters and Numbers’ , ‘Tomorrow Tonight’, ‘Australia’s Brainiest Comedian’, ‘The Panel’, “Rove”, ‘Talkin’ ’bout your Generation’, and “The Footy Show”. Internationally he has featured on the British version of ‘Thank God You’re Here’ , ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and ‘The Jay Leno Show’ in the States.
2021 saw Hamish and his wife Zoe Foster Blake become ambassadors for Tourism Australia’s Holiday Here This Year Campaign, featuring in a series of spectacular advertisements exploring travel destinations across the country.
Hamish is co-author, in conjunction with his wife Zoë Foster Blake, of the best-selling ‘Textbook Romance – a user’s guide to successful romancing’.
In his role as an Ambassador for charitable organisation Soldier On, Hamish and Cadel Evans joined a group of military veterans in Italy for an intense 3 day cycling challenge in the Trois Etapes Giro. Hamish was also a proud Ambassador of the 2018 Invictus Games. In 2022 , he took part in the BigFreeze slide at the MCG for Neale Daniher’s charity FightMND. Hamish is an ongoing supporter of Foodbank Australia.
